The Women Cartooning Fellowship aims at developing the skills of budding female/female-identifying press cartoonists, preparing them to lead successful careers in the field, while mobilizing them to advocate for the rights of single mothers.
The program is designed to equip a group of female/female identifying participants with the skills and mentorship to become professional press cartoonists publishing in local and international journals, to advocate for gender issues, and to portray the inequalities between men and women in their work. Under the mentorship of male and female instructors and guest speakers.
The program will take place between the 22nd of May and the 9th of November 2022.
Program sessions will be held twice a week: Thursday evenings, for two hours, and Sundays, for two hours for virtual workshops, and the whole day for the in-person workshops.
The online workshops will be held on Zoom. The in-person workshops will be held at the American Arts Center in Casablanca.
Training emerging female/female-identifying participants in press cartooning and related topics.
Development of the skills of the participants of the program through internships on various media platforms.
Production of physical and virtual exhibitions around the program.
Enable participants to frame workshops and seminars.
Moroccan Female/Female identifying citizens aged between 18 and 35.
You must be interested in learning about press cartooning, drawing, and journalism.
This program is ideal for journalism students, arts students, and budding press-cartoonists, It is also open to people outside of these fields.
