Mohammed VI Polytechnic University aims to provide novel and effective responses to African public policy issues by drawing on a wide range of intellectual resources from across the humanities. Clearly, responding effectively to public policy issues requires taking up the issues themselves, rather than working within a specific discipline with its methodological and theoretical boundaries.
This principle has guided an organization of the research into a single entity, which houses all research projects of the Faculty: The Africa Institute for Research in Economics and Social Sciences (AIRESS). The institute provides a shared space for researchers, one which fosters the creation of research areas that address specific research questions in a focused way.
The Institute brings together researchers from a broad swath of disciplines, including, among others, economics, sociology, international relations, psychology, history, law, and philosophy. Through collaborations across these areas, its can be an exemplar of real, effective interdisciplinarity.
