On International Women’s Day 2022, they are calling on women and girls in Morocco to join the British Ambassador H.E. Simon Martin, to be an Ambassador for a Day.
This year’s theme is BreakTheBias, an opportunity to showcase how women are breaking stereotypes and helping create an inclusive, equitable, and diverse world.
The number of British female Ambassadors has increased 3 times in the past decade. As we work on breaking our bias, we are offering the opportunity to young Moroccan women and girls to step into the diplomatic world by being Ambassadors for a Day.
Application process:
Write a short essay (no more than 500 words) or film a video (no more than 3 minutes) answering the following:
Tell us about a social issue affecting women and girls in your community. How would you address it on your level and how do you think the UK and Morocco can work together to tackle it?
The winner will be selected based on the quality of their argumentation, their passion for gender equality, and their enthusiasm for being an Ambassador for a Day at the British Embassy.
Submit your application by filling this form, no later than April 8 at 23:59 hrs.
Eligibility
Participation in the contest is open to Moroccan women and girls aged 16-25 residing in Morocco during the duration of the contest, excluding members of families of British Embassy Morocco staff.
Successful candidates under 18 will have to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Should the winner (and a chaperone if required) need to travel from outside of Rabat in order to participate in the contest, travel expenses will be covered by the Embassy.
The submission can be in Arabic, English, French, or Amazigh.
Benefits:
If successful, you will join the Embassy for one day as a “Youth Ambassador”. You will join the British Ambassador and other senior Embassy staff in their meetings with key stakeholders.
You will get the opportunity to present your vision of gender equality; and have an opportunity to influence ideas on upcoming activities and policies of the Embassy.
Shortlisted candidates will join our Ambassador for a Day, H.E. Simon Martin, and special guests for an afternoon tea celebration.
